Sierra Leone, England win in Kabbadi World Cup
Sierra Leone registered a decisive win defeating Scotland 58-25 in mens' Kabadi during the ongoing fourth World Cup Kabadi.

Gurdaspur: Sierra Leone Wednesday registered a decisive win defeating Scotland 58-25 in mens' Kabadi during the ongoing fourth World Cup Kabadi here.

In womens' event England defeated Mexico 45-29. In the third match Pakistan defeated Denmark 77-22.

Inaugurating the World Cup, Gurcharan Singh Babbehali, Chief Parliamentary Secretary and Nirmal Singh Kahlon, former speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha, expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for taking Kabbadi to the international level.

Speaking on the occasion Kahlon said that with active involvement of youth, the game has certainly channelised their energies.

He appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and other social aberrations and extend their support for a healthy society. Babbehali said that the government would construct world class sports stadiums in all the major towns of Punjab.

He also said that due to the efforts of the Punjab Government Kabaddi has now got international status and it is because of the Punjab government that 20 out of 14 countries are participating in this tournament.
