Slumdog... musical to raise money for child stars
Slumdog Millionaire's producer is planning a stage musical.

New Delhi: After sweeping the Oscars and bagging eight, Slumdog Millionaire's producer Chris Colson is now planning a stage musical of the film.

The funds raised will be donated to the slum kids who acted in the film so that they can lead better lives. Almost Rs 3.6 crore have already been raised by a fund set up by filmmakers.

Also, the filmmakers are now reviewing the plans to safeguard the future of child stars Azharuddin Mohammed and Rubina Qureshi, the two slum kids who acted in the film.

More than Danny Boyle, more than the eight Oscars for the film he directed, Slumdog Millionaire, Hollywood's entertainment media was enchanted by the cast of Indian kids who added such energy to the movie. And by the time the Academy Awards were done, the newly minted stars had gone from media shy to media savvy.

For a couple of days at least, these kids made Hollywood their playground. And talking of playgrounds, the kids managed to enjoy themselves at Disneyland on Monday. That jaunt was paid for by Fox Searchlight, the studio behind Slumdog Millionaire.
