THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A minor technical snag of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) had resulted in the errors in the higher secondary examination results. This is learnt to be the finding of the report submitted by DPI APM Mohammed Hanish to Chief Secretary P Prabhakaran on Thursday on the circumstances that led to the errors. The errors occurred while entering the grace mark of students who opted for biology combination. It is also learnt that the report has stated that the official who entered the grace marks failed to run the software for the same. The report has pinpointed the lack of infrastructure in the Higher Secondary Education Directorate. The Directorate does not have trained personnel to do computer related works. The report is also learnt to have recommended an error-free mechanism in the HSE Directorate as in the Pareeksha Bhavan for SSLC examinationrelated works. The errors were noticed when the revised results were published on May 20. The revision was made after it was noticed that grace marks were awarded in variance to the eligible score for students with biology combination. The errors in the revised list were later rectified.
