A chilli winter morning, a newspaper and a cup of coffee – smells like the perfect weekend. So I decided to stir a little bit of spunk to an otherwise mundane weekend. I decided to head to The Lalit (formerly known as the InterContinental, The Grand) for a rejuvenating experience at their Rejuve Spa.
Located in the heart of Delhi at Connaught Place, 24 kms from the international airport, the hotel overlooks a mystic mix of city life and the old world charm of the Red Fort and Jama Masjid.
Spread across a vast expanse of luxury the Rejuve Spa offers a reviving experience for the mind, body and soul. The Spa offers aroma, ayurvedic, herbal and natural therapies and the patented ‘colour healing.’ The therapies are developed with a mix of contemporary sciences to serve modern needs.
After due consultation, the doctor at the Spa advised me to experience the Orange Aroma therapy. Rejuve’s Aroma experience uses the essence of herbs and essential oils to reinvigorate the energy in you that the busy city life takes away. My therapist Chow Chow, was a young north-eastern lady who has been in the business for the past five years.
At first glance she looked rather delicate, but it was only later that I realised the value of experience. After a quick shower I entered a dimly lit room where Chow Chow first started by giving me a quick foot massage. She gently dipped my feet in warm water with rose petals and eased the stressed muscles in my feet. Once done it was time for the exfoliation process to begin.
The exfoliation began with the therapist applying a unique scrub on my body. In my case it was the healing qualities of Tamarind and the refreshing character of cane sugar. Chow Chow gently eased my muscles and relaxed the knots in my body to give me a complete body revival.
After the scrub I took a quick shower and was ready for a deep tissue massage. Here the therapist used a mix of lemon and ginger oil to restore the lost energy and relax the stressed muscles in my body. She nourished the body, to absorb the therapeutic essence of the oil that helped heal my body. My decision of visiting The Lalit was turning into a visit well paid.
After the relaxing massage I headed to the sauna and later took a long shower to clean the excessive oils. As my treatment came to a close I thanked Chow Chow for rekindling the energy in me. The visit turned out to be a success as I was completely charged to face the challenges of the week ahead. And as Rejuve’s tag line goes my mind, body and soul was completely rejuvenated after the visit.
