SpiceJet Slapping Row: Sexual Abuse Charge Made After Officer Refused To Withdraw Complaint, Say CISF Sources
On Thursday, a SpiceJet woman staff member, was arrested for allegedly slapping an on-duty CISF officer during a dispute over security screening at Jaipur airport

Refuting sexual harassment allegations against its assistant sub inspector (ASI) by a female SpiceJet employee, sources in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Friday said that the abuse charge was levelled after the officer refused to withdraw his complaint.

“The video and eyewitness accounts do not corroborate the allegations made by the female employee. It appears to be a belated action, but the police are investigating,” sources at CISF told News18.

On Thursday, Anuradha Rani, who works as a ground staff member at SpiceJet airlines, was arrested for allegedly slapping an on-duty CISF officer during a dispute over security screening at Jaipur airport.

Anuradha was booked under sections 121 (1) (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 132 (assaulting public servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). However, today, she filed a case against the CISF officer alleging misconduct and making indecent comments.

The CCTV footage of the incident, which has gone viral on social media platforms, shows the CISF officer conversing with the woman, who suddenly approaches and slaps him before being escorted away by a female constable.

In response to the incident, SpiceJet released a statement on Thursday alleging that the female staff member was subjected to “sexual harassment” by the CISF officer, who allegedly invited her to “come and meet him after his duty hours at his home.”

“SpiceJet is taking immediate legal action in this serious case of sexual harassment against its female employee and has approached the local police. We stand firmly by our employee and are committed to providing her with full support,” the airline asserted.

Addressing the incident, a senior CISF official told News18 that the SpiceJet employee became agitated when no female CISF personnel were available for mandatory screening at the entrance.

“A female SpiceJet employee was asked to undergo mandatory screening at the nearby entrance for airline crew at Jaipur airport, but no female CISF personnel were available at the time. The female employee got agitated and slapped the on-duty CISF personnel. A case has been registered against her and she has been arrested,” the senior CISF official stated.
