“I am not travelling the state to become the state BJP president.
I don’t need to resort to political gimmicks.
I have already experienced every post in the party.
I am touring to know the plight of the people and organise the party,” said former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.
Offering Bagina to Anjanapur dam and laying the foundation stone for the development of a park on the lines of KRS in Mysore, at a cost of `10 crore near Shikaripur on Monday, Yeddyurappa said, “People should not identify me as a former CM or former state BJP president.
Instead, they should consider me as their Yeddyurappa.
” He added that Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa and he would start the first phase of tour after seeking the blessings of Siddaganga Seer from Tumkur.
The objective of the tour is to bring the problems of people and farmers to the notice of the government, to desilt canals and tanks to recharge ground water, he added.
Yeddyurappa said that he would submit a report to the government after the tour.
“When I spoke in favour of farmers at the Assembly, some people, including my own party men claimed that I behaved like an opposition leader.
But I did not bother because people of the state are important to me.
Following it, the CM decided to waive the loans of farmers,” he said.
The Central government should compensate `3,600 crore loan amount waived in the state.
“The leaders who shed crocodile tears for the farmers should ask the Prime Minister to direct all nationalised banks to waive loans,” he added.
MP B Y Raghavendra, Rajya Sabha Member Ayanur Manjunath and Apex Bank president RM Manjunath Gowda also were present.
