BANGALORE:Thousands of people visited Freedom park in the city and shouted slogans in chorus giving an electrifying effect to the whole atmosphere in support of Anna Hazare and a strong Jan Lokpal Bill. Taking part in the protest, former Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde lashed out at the UPA government for arresting Anna Hazare and said that the civil society members were willing to hold talks on the Jan Lokpal Bill if the Centre is willing to discuss it with an open mind. Captain Gopinath of the Deccan Aviation said that the fight was not against any party or individual. “It is a fight against the system,” he added. Meanwhile, the state unit of BJP has decided to support Anna Hazare. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, state BJP spokesperson C T Ravi came down heavily on the Centre for ill-treating Hazare, who has waged a war against corruption.Announcing BJP’s total support to Hazare, Ravi said the party’s youth wing would launch a “torch march” on Thursday, followed by another march by the women’s wing on Friday.He said the party would take out protest marches in all the 224 assembly constituencies in the state, condemning the Centre’s failure to concede the demand of the civil society for a strong Jan Lokpal Bill.Stating that the BJP had also taken a lead in the campaign against corruption, Ravi said “removal of B S Yeddyurappa from the post of chief minister is the testimony to the party’s commitment on the issue”.A series of protests and Satyagraha’s are being held across the state with tens and thousands of people extending their support to Hazare in his fight against graft. Civil society organisations, students, pontiffs, professionals are extending unflinching support to Anna Hazare who is fighting for a strong Jan Lokpal Bill.
