Hyderabad: The governing council of the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences which met under the chairmanship of chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday, approved purchasing of medical equipment worth Rs 24.25 crore.
The funds will be used for procuring 25 haemo-dialysis machines, linear accelerator with IGRT, CT stimulator, brachytherapy unit along with building and upgradation of the blood bank. The chief minister has also laid the foundation stone for construction of patients' attendant block at an estimated cost of Rs 325 lakh to accommodate 1,500 attendants and for construction of dialysis unit for 100 patients.
Both buildings would be completed in 18 months and the construction is being financed by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. The council also reviewed the Action Taken Report on decisions taken in previous meeting and ratification of certain appointments. The meeting also discussed service rules and regulations and admission to various courses. The governing council also ratified the minutes of meetings of the academic senate, finance committee and executive board held earlier.
SVIMS is providing free food to Arogyasri and SV Pranadana patients at a cost of Rs 54 lakh and with the support from the TTD, free food is being provided to all in-patients at a cost of Rs 83 lakh, the council noted.
