Swachh Bharat a flop in Delhi, huge embarrassment for MCD
Huge mounds of garbage in the middle of roads, kids playing near dumping yards and open drains are a common sight in many parts of the city

Despite the launch of the Swacch Bharat campaign with much pomp and show in 2014 from the national capital, MCD, which has been ruled by the BJP for over eight years seems to have failed the cleanliness test.

In a huge embarrassment, areas administered by the three municipal corporations have been ranked 397th in the Centre's Swachh Bharat appraisal list.

Huge mounds of garbage in the middle of roads, kids playing near dumping yards and open drains are a common sight in many parts of the city.

The Prime Minister may have promised toilets across the country, but 112 toilet blocks are still under construction in Delhi. The proposal to build 94 more toilet blocks is still in limbo.

North MCD Mayor Ravinder Kumar said, "AAP government is not giving us any money."
