CHENNAI: A senior police official, against whom AIADMK workers had lodged a complaint recently, was transferred on Wednesday.Deputy Commissioner of police (T Nagar) R Thirunavukkarasu was transferred and posted as Commandant, Tamil Nadu Special Police VII Battalion, Pochampalli, replacing J Bhaskaran, who was posted as Superintendent of Police, Railways, Chennai.Thirunavukkarasu was involved in a verbal altercation with a group of AIADMK workers at an eatery on Nungambakkam High Road on Sunday. The seven party workers were later taken to the Nungambakkam police station.On hearing about the incident, Information Minister G Senthamizhan and the party’s Thousand Lights MLA B Valarmathi descended on the police station and demanded the release of the detained workers. Once let off, the AIADMK workers had lodged a complaint against the DCP.
