BHUBANESWAR: A taxi owner was stabbed by a person near Station Square on Friday. The victim Basudev Badjena has been hospitalised with multiple injuries. The assailant, identified as Ajay Rout, has been arrested. Kharavela Nagar Police said Basudev was having a chat with his driver Safir Khan when Rout appeared on the scene with a sharp weapon and attacked the former. The car owner was hit on three different parts of the body. Locals jumped to Basudev’s rescue and overpowered Rout before handing him over to police. The accused, however, behaved as if he was speech impaired. Police said he was under influence of alcohol too. The reason behind the attack is yet to be known.Student Kills Self: An MBA student allegedly ended his life by hanging himself in his room on Friday. The deceased was identified as Santosh Dash, a resident of Khallikote in Ganjam. Dash was a student of Srusti Academy, Sahid Nagar Police said. He was staying near Jayadev Vihar. His body was found hanging from the ceiling. Although no suicide note has been found yet, police suspect it to be a case of suicide. Dash’s family has been intimated.
