GUNTUR: Chittala Jagadish, a B.Tech graduate, has embarked on a mission named Excess Food Management to feed the poor.As part of the mission, he collects the leftover food from function halls and feeds the poor.Jagadish, who did his BTech with specialisation in web designing, worked in an IT firm in Hyderabad for three years from 2005.Haunted by the scene of stray dogs fighting for wasted food at a function hall, he decided to do something for the hungry. On February 24, 2011, he purchased an auto and went to the TTD Kalyana Mandapam where he convinced the father of the bridegroomto feed the hungry with the leftover food. The bridegroom’s father agreed to help him.Jagadish collected the food after the end of the marriage and distributed it to 60 people at Chenchu Colony. Thus he started his Excess Food Management concept.Jagadish says food does not go waste if the leftover s at marriages and other functions are collected and distributed to the poor.As part of his mission, he visited all big Kalyana Mandapams, function halls, temples and hotels seeking the help of people in his noble act.“I could feed about 50,000 poor people in and around Guntur city with the leftover food,” says Jagadesh.Generally, he gets phone calls from organisers of functions after 2 pm every day, after which he collects the food and distributes it to the hungry.
