HYDERABAD: The Telangana Congress steering committee is meeting at the residence of its chairman and Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao here on Sunday in the backdrop of the appeals made by chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and the party high command to Telangana ministers to resume official duties, take part in the Independence Day celebrations and attend the next cabinet meeting at the CM's camp office on August 16.The future course of agitation on Telangana and the role to be played by Telangana ministers, MPs, MLAs and MLCs in it will be finalised at the meeting.According to steering committee spokesman and Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy, the role of MPs in Parliament and that of ministers and MLAs in the Telangana movement, and the deletion of Clause 14(f) of the Presidential Order on employment zones will come up for  discussion at the meeting which will be attended by all available  members. Committee chairman and minister K Jana Reddy is unlikely to attend it since he is away in Bangalore for naturopathy treatment.Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy, MLA and another spokesman of the committee, said the meeting would discuss all issues relating to Telangana. Since their resignation over a month ago, the party's Telangana MPs have not been attending Parliament and the ministers the Secretariat. Those (referring to Telangana political JAC, student JAC and others) who were demanding their resignations again should rethink on their demand, he said.K Yadava Reddy, MLC, said they would pay tributes to the Telangana martyrs at the memorial at the Gun Park opposite the Assembly at 9 am on August 15 at 9 am and hoist the national flag as well as the Telangana flag.The committee comprises 23 members who include two chairmen, four conveners, two coordinators, 12 members and three spokespersons.  All  the Telangana ministers and AICC secretary P Sudhakar Reddy are  special invitees.A majority of the 12 ministers who resigned and have been staying away from duties at the Secretariat are showing interest in taking part in the Independence Day celebrations and attending the cabinet meeting on the following day. Infrastructure and investments minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy said he would not attend the cabinet meeting or official duties till the Centre began the process of forming Telangana state. But he said he would hoist the national flag in his native Nalgonda district and also hoist the Telangana flag at a nearby place.
