Hyderabad: Advocates and judicial employees across Telangana launched a week-long protest under the banner of 'Chalo High Court' on Monday against the provisional allocation of judicial officers between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The advocates have been demanding bifurcation of the existing Hyderabad High Court.
Adequate security and traffic arrangements have been made in the state and police have warned of action against the lawyers in case of any violations.
On Sunday, the lawyers were denied permission by the Hyderabad Police for the "Chalo High Court" programme.
'Chalo High Court' was a call given by Federation of Bar Associations appealing to all advocates practising in various courts in the districts of Telangana and Hyderabad to proceed to High Court on Monday.
"Necessary prohibitory orders have been imposed in the surroundings of High Court, banning taking out any processions, organising agitations etc," Hyderabad police Commissioner M Mahendar Reddy was quoted as saying in a release.
"As per the orders of the Registrar General of the High Court, only those practising advocates of High Court whose cases are listed in the cause list for June 13 shall be permitted to enter into the High Court premises," it added.
