KARIMNAGAR: Barely a few hours before Sakalajanula Samme, a mammoth preparatory meeting held here on Monday, indicated how it would affect the general administration in the Telangana region as 7.5 lakh government employees are expected to take part in it.Jana Garjana organised by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) here, evoked a good response from people who extended their total support to the proposed Samme. Though the state government is planning to invoke ESMA and arrest a few Telangana employee union leaders to foil the strike, the staff right from the class four cadre to the rank of officer have decided to go on strike.“All four crore people of Telangana are with the employees. If any employee is arrested under ESMA, the entire Telangana will burn,” thundered TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao, giving a call to the people to organise rasta rokos across the region on Tuesday. National highways will be blocked on September 18 as part of the Samme. Rao said employees of private organisations would also participate in the strike. The call for Sakalajanula Samme is not that of employees alone. All the people of Telangana should participate in the strike, Rao said.”I first addressed a meeting from the same venue 11 years ago. The enthusiasm of people has increased manifold now. I salute Karimnagar Gadda and Bidda,” Rao said, after seeing overwhelming response to the meeting. On Banswada byelection, Rao said if the Congress contested the seat it would forfeit its deposit. In his usual manner, Rao took swipes at Seemandhra leaders like TG Venkatesh and Rayapati Sambasiva Rao. He alleged that chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy who is more interested in developing Seemandhra, was neglecting Telangana region. “We will not be cowed down by ESMA or arrests. The large attendance for today's meeting is an indication that the people are supporting the strike,” TNGOs Association president K Swami Goud said.“We will set up tents before the government offices and see that employees and people do not enter the premises," he said. ”I will be in the forefront, if employees wanted to sacrifice their jobs and salaries for the T cause,” Goud said.Telangana Political JAC chairman M Kodandaram called upon people to support the Samme to see that employees do not be made scapegoats. “Let us all declare that employees are not alone. People should not tolerate, if a single employee is arrested. People should close the government offices,” he said. “This is not a strike by employees. It is the strike by the people of Telangana,” Kodandaram said.BJP leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao said: “The next phase of T movement is like lull before the storm.” Telangana Gazetted Officers Association leader Srinivas Goud, TRS leader E Rajender and others were present.
