New Delhi: Bollywood's superstar might have innumerable fans in India and abroad but Hollywood never tasted the success and fame of the actor until 'The Great Gatsby' premiered in New York. Such was the frenzy around the actor that the international media mistook the cheering for Amitabh Bachchan at the premiere for Leonardo DiCaprio's entry. And, Bachchan continues to cast his spell even in his cameo in Baz Luhrmann's 'The Great Gatsby'.

Though the actor makes his entry into the screen as gangster Meyer Wolfsheim for only two minutes, but he still manages to take all the attention despite sharing screen space with actors like Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio.

As Indian audiences, you wait with bated breath for your superstar to enter the screen and cast his spell and Amitabh Bachchan doesn't disappoint you. Baz Luhrmann introduces the character in a bar amid loud music and a few dancers entertaining the bigwigs of the society. But despite all the loudness, you just can't seem to miss out Bachchan's baritone and the way he introduces himself to Tobey Maguire in the film.

While many Indian actors have already made their way to Hollywood's biggest hits, Bachchan's fans have waited for long to see him in a Hollywood film. And, Baz Luhrmann grants Bachchan's fans their biggest wish.

Getting into the character of an American gangster Bachchan puts on a little bit of accent making his performance all the more alluring. Keeping Meyer Wolfsheim's true identity under wraps, Bachchan interestingly creates a mystique around his character in the film displaying his acting prowess.

Baz Luhrmann decides to give a Bollywood style feel to 'The Great Gatsby' and what better way than to pull in India's biggest superstar in the film. And, indeed his strategy works for the Indian audiences as more than the story, it's Amitabh Bachchan that draws them to 'The Great Gatsby'.
