KGF: Three safai karamcharis died due to suffocation while cleaning a pit in KGF. In a heart-breaking incident that was reported in KGF, three youths died due to suffocation while cleaning up a pit in a private house at Ramaiah Garden (Ashok Nagar) in KGF here on Monday afternoon.The deceased have been identified as Nagendra Babu (30) son of Nagaraj, Ravi (29) son of Raju and Prasad Kutty (35) son of Joseph all are residents of Kennadies Telugu Line (Andhra Line).According to sources, about seven persons allegedly accepted to clean up the pit in the house of Anand Kumar a BEML employee. The karamcharis were removing night soil from the 12 feet deep pit and six feet long in diameter.After cleaning half of the night soil, they went to lunch and returned to work. Due to suffocation, three persons became unconscious and died. The other four persons who were also helping allegedly runaway from the spot. Robertsonpet police along with fire personnels rushed to the spot and fished out the dead bodies with the help of the locals.In connection with the incident, the Robertsonpet police have registered a case against the house owner Anand Kumar. Compensation has been declared by KGF City Municipal vice-president M Bakthavatchalam. He said the government will release Rs 1 lakh to family members of each of the deceased.
