CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa along with three AIADMK ministers today cornered a first-time PMK member in the assembly when he tried to point out alleged irregularities during the DMK regime, asking him why his party was part of the DMK alliance even while being aware of these allegations.First timer and PMK member elected from Anaicut M Kalaiarasu was trying to raise complaints about the alleged irregularities in the health department during the DMK rule, when minister for Municipal administration KP Munusamy interrupted, asking why his party was part of the alliance.An undeterred Kalaiarasu said "political changes are common," which apparently did not convince the ruling party, as Housing Minister R Vaithilingam, explained "there are differences between political changes and alliance changes."Chief Minister Jayalalithaa joined the debate and said PMK had not raised these allegations when they were part of the DMK combine because they thought they would win in the assembly elections.School Education minister C Ve Shanmugam too joined the issue and asked who had closed the King's Institute in Guindy which was producing vaccines. PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss was the Union Health minister then.Kalaiarasu said he was "a newcomer to politics and the House," and the "alliance change was for the benefit of the people," and continued to raise concerns on importance of treatment of diabetes patients,PMK, which announced its formal exit from DMK alliance after the April 13 assembly polls,has three members in the 234-member Tamil Nadu assembly.
