ONGOLE: Two employees of a pesticides manufacturing company were killed and four others injured in a blast in its boiler and liquid tanker in the wee hours of Wednesday.The blast took place at Bagirtha Chemicals Limited at Vendamukkala Palem village near here. The six people were working near the boiler when, according to reports, unprecedented rise of temperature in the boiler and vibrations in the liquid tanker led to the blasts.The deceased were identified as shift supervisor Kalluri Maruthivenkataramana (32) of Koppolu village and shift operator Nalluri Venkataramana (27) of Erajerla village in Ongole district. The injured were technicians T Delhi Rao and B Vasudeva Rao from Ganjam district in Orrisa, K Kailash from Chhattisgarh and Mukuri Venkatakishore from Munipadu mandal in the district. The four wokers sustained minor injuries in the blast and their condition is set to be stable. The deceased were working at the third floor of the boiler and the four injured, who were working on the first floor, jumped to the ground sensing the blast.There were 12 reactors adjacent to blasted boiler. Had they caught fire, it would have been a major disaster. According to information, there was no proper fire fighting system or alarming system in the chemical company.The fire department of Ongole district rushed the fire tenders to the location immediately after the blast and brought the situation under control within hours. The officials are studying the loss. District collector Kanthilal Dande, SP T V S N Raju and RDO Nagaraju visited the venue of the blast. They assured the relatives of the deceased that they would get compensation from the management of the chemical company. Police lodged a case against the owner of the company Sadasivudu, factory manager Chandrasekar and three others.
