HYDERABAD: Two businessmen from Varanasi were on Wednesday arrested by the Railway police for allegedly forging the signature of an MP from Maharashtra on emergency quota (EQ) requisition form to get a confirmed train ticket. The duo came to the city on some business from Varanasi and as they did not get a return train ticket, they took the help of an agent who sent them the letter pad of the MP.The two, Wasim Abbas and S R Danish Athe approached Karim of Bhopal, a railway ticket agent, for booking tickets online. “As the tickets were not confirmed, Karim sought the help of his friend, Munna Khan. Khan sent a letter pad of Mumbai MP Loknath Gaekwad through fax to the railway authorities for the EQ ticket. Khan also called up the railway officials identifying himself as the MP,’’ Secunderabad railway SP M Kantha Rao said.Later, the railway officials grew suspicious and called up the MP and came to know that the MP neither sent the letter nor telephoned the railway officials.
