Guwahati: Days after chairman of the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom, Arabinda Rajkhowa, was released, the outfit's foreign secretary Sasha Choudhury and finance secretary Chitraban Hazarika have also been released from Guwahati Central Jail.
Sasha and Chaudhary are central council members of ULFA. Rajkhowa had appealed for their release as soon as he was released from jail.
Choudhury and Hazarika were granted bail on Monday by a special TADA court paving the way for their release. They were arrested in Bangladesh in November 2009 and were handed over to India.
Besides Rajkhowa, other jailed ULFA leaders who were released on bail include advisor Bhimakanta Buragohain, vice chairman Pradip Gogoi, deputy commander-in-chief Raju Barua, publicity secretary Mithinga Daimary and cultural secretary Pranati Deka.
The ULFA leaders have been released after the government decided not to oppose their bail application to facilitate the process of peace talks between the group and the government.
