New Delhi: Even as August 24, the date of 2014 Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Preliminary Examination, approaches so is the protest by several aspirants at Mukherjee Nagar in New Delhi against the Civil Service Aptitude Test on Wednesday which is allegedly biased against those from rural and regional language background.
Early on Wednesday morning, the police forcefully took away the four aspirants (Ajit Kumar Trivedi, Lokpati Tripathi, Mukesh Rai and Ushapati Tripathi) fasting unto death to Hindurao hospital. Earlier in the day, electricity supply at the protest venue was also disconnected.
"As the news spread, all other aspirants gathered at the spot and pledged to fast to bring them back. Two of the aspirants, however, ran away from the hospital and reached the protest site," said Chhavi Bisla from Uttar Pradesh. But Ajit Kumar Trivedi and Ushapati Tripathi are still at the hospital. Nearly 50 other aspirants are with them at the hospital.
Mukesh Yadav, one of the aspirants, blamed the government for changing its stance on Hindi. He said, "The government said that Hindi language will be given importance and work will be done in this language, then why is there a change in the stance."
Aspirants even closed several coaching institutes in the area which is a major hub of civil services aspirants so as to garner more support for their cause.
They are not ready to bow down and will intensify their protests so that government fulfill all their demands.
