KOXHIKODE: Union Minister of State for Power K C Venugopal has demanded a CBI probe into the political murders in Kannur during the last 20 years.He was speaking to reporters after visiting the house of slain leader T P Chandrasekharan at Onchiyam on Saturday.“Kannur has witnessed the highest number of political murders. However, majority of the cases still remain unresolved. Fearing the party, nobody gives evidence.“The conspiracy behind the murder of NDF activist Fasal in Kasargod came to light only in the CBI probe. Besides, there is some truth in the public’s apprehension that political murder cases often get resolved when political parties strike a deal with each other,” he said.Stating that there is a larger conspiracy behind the murder of Chandrasekharan, Venugopal said: “ Pinarayi Vijayan said that the CPM would not attack those who are leaving the party.“However, deceased Fasal had left the party. Similarly, there exists a big conspiracy behind the murder of Chandrasekharan. Hopefully, the present Special Investigation Team can find out all the accused in the case."
