VHP leaders say that the Congress and Sonia Gandhi should be under investigation for their dubious role in the Oil-for-Food scam.
New Delhi: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Tuesday demanded the resignation of the Manmohan Singh Government in the wake of the Paul Volcker report controversy.
The party alleged t that the ?needle of suspicion? was on the ruling Congress and its President Sonia Gandhi.
"External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh is being made a scapegoat to save Sonia Gandhi and the Congress and action should be taken against her and the party," VHP leader Acharya Giriraj Kishore said.
He also alleged that Natwar Singh, whose name figured as a non-contractual beneficiary in the Volcker report on the Iraqi oil payoffs, was simply a ?tool? in the whole episode.
"In my opinion the Congress-led government should resign," he said.
