RAIRAKHOL: There seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel for the 40 BPL families of Ambajhari village in Rairakhol block with the Forest Department denying clearance for power connections to their homes. Peeved over the delay, the villagers recently staged a demonstration in front of the office of Rairakhol Divisional Forest Officer (Territorial), Suresh Dash, demanding forest clearance to facilitate supply of power to the village. It has been three years since meters were installed in their houses.According to villagers, they had written to all authorities concerned last year hoping for a solution but in vain. It was then that they decided to stage a dharna. After giving the agitators a patient hearing, the DFO visited the village. He could ascertain that the proposed corridor through which wire would be drawn was not a reserve forest. The DFO assured the villagers that their demand would be conceded.
