Passengers waiting to board their respective flights at the Delhi Airport said the airport experienced a power cut for a few minutes on Monday afternoon causing disruptions to check-in and Digi Yatra services.
“T3 terminal Delhi Airport totally chocked due to power failure! No counter, No digi yatra, nothing functioning. This is shocking,” a passenger said on social media site X.
Dear Siddharth, We certainly do not wish to provide such an experience to our flyers. We've duly noted your feedback and have shared the same with the concerned team to look into it.— Delhi Airport (@DelhiAirport) June 17, 2024
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the airport authority, responded to the post by saying that they have ‘noted the feedback’, without elaborating on the nature of complaint.
“We certainly do not wish to provide such an experience to our flyers. We’ve duly noted your feedback and have shared the same with the concerned team to look into it,” Delhi Airport said, responding to the post on X.
People familiar with the developments told CNN-News18 that power outage lasted for 10 to 12 minutes and that electricity has now been restored. They said that some passengers faced issues because of the power cut as check-in counters and Digi Yatra services were affected.
Officials from GMR Airports Limited, part of the consortium that runs the Delhi Airport along with Airports Authority of India, and Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide, said the power cut lasted for two to three minutes.
“No flights were affected by this,” they said.
“No flight operation was hampered. All flight operations were as per schedule. The Digi Yatra system rebooted itself after a change in power supply and the boarding pass counters have uninterrupted power supply (UPS) backup,” airport officials told CNN-News18.
