Coconut trees gracefully sway on Sagar Nagar Beach, adding to its charm, especially during the rainy season. However, the beach was not always adorned with coconut trees. Earlier, during summertime, footfall at the beach was less due to the scorching summer sun.
Sunray Resorts, a popular resort in Visakhapatnam then sought permission from the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) to plant coconut trees along the beach to attract tourists. They received permission and the endeavour worked like a charm.
Tourists now enjoy the picturesque view beneath these coconut trees, whether they visit during the day, evening, or twilight hours. The trees add a unique charm to the beach, enticing tourists to capture the beauty in selfies while relishing the youthful ambience and indulging in fresh coconut water.
The coconut trees, strategically planted at five spots along the coast, draw visitors who seek to admire the beach’s beauty, go for strolls, or enjoy evening outings by the shore. Tourists express delight in relaxing under the shade of these coconut trees, especially as the refreshing breeze from the Visakha Sagar coast drifts gently across. At night, the coconut trees have a charm of their own as they are adorned with electric lights which make them look very beautiful and aesthetic.
