BANGALORE: With his election as leader of the BJP Legislative Party, D V Sadananda Gowda will be the second leader to become chief minister without any ministerial experience after H D Kumaraswamy.
Gowda, sitting Lok Sabha member representing UdupiChickmagalur Constituency, has been elected the new BJP Legislative Party leader with the blessing of B S Yeddyurappa, and he belongs to the Vokkaliga community. He was elected to the Karnataka Assembly twice, in 1994 and 1999, and served as the deputy leader of the Opposition in the House while Jagadish Shettar was Opposition leader.Gowda also led the party to victory in May 2008 Assembly elections. After the delimitation of constituencies, Gowda moved to newly formed UdupiChickmagalur Constituency from where he got elected to the 13th Lok Sabha.
