BANGALORE: In a miraculous escape, a 38-year-old woman survived after she accidentally fell from a height of about 30 feet from Richmond Road flyover near Richmond Circle on Friday.Shameem, a resident of Anthony Nicholas Street in Ashokanagar, was fasting for Ramzan and fainted when she was walking on the flyover at around 11.30 am.Though she tried to hold on to the railing on the parapet of the wall, she lost control and fell over, right into the middle of Richmond Circle. The traffic police deputed at the Circle immediately shifted her to a nearby private hospital. She fractured her right hand and is currently out of danger, the police said.In her statement to the police, Shameem said that she was going to recharge her mobile phone when she fainted on the flyover, as she was fasting.Shameem’s husband is an advocate and she has two children.“Though, initially we suspected that she might have attempted suicide, Shameem herself has made a statement that she did not try to commit suicide. And she did not want any complaint to be registered in connection with the incident. She claims that she was an English teacher in a private school and had resigned the job a few days back, after she was asked by the school authorities to teach Science. She also told the police that she was depressed after she left the job and was thinking about it when she fainted.Surprisingly, she has requested us to get her a teacher’s job at Baldwin school and that she wants to continue working as a teacher,” the police explained.
