Amid a series of shifts in casting, the upcoming mystery thriller drama, tentatively titled The Price of Confession, might see acclaimed actress Jeon Do Yeon taking on the lead role. Jeon Do Yeon is currently in discussions for the role, as reported by STARNEWS on December 20. This potential casting follows the departure of Song Hye Kyo and Han So Hee from the series. The K-drama was initially supposed to cast actresses Song Hye Kyo and Han So Hee. However, after a detailed discussion, both the actresses decided to not appear and the original director of the series also decided to back out.
Management SOOP, Jeon Do Yeon’s agency, has confirmed that she has received an offer and is presently reviewing it. In case Jeon Do Yeon accepts the role, this drama will mark her next project after the successful 2023 K-drama Crash Course in Romance, where she starred alongside Jung Kyung Ho, Lee Bong Ryun, Oh Eui-shik, Shin Jae Ha, and Roh Yoon-seo.
In addition to her television ventures, Jeon Do Yeon is poised to make a return to the big screen with the upcoming movie Revolver, co-starring Ji Chang Wook and Im Ji Yeon.
Jeon Do Yeon initially entered the Korean entertainment scene as a model before making her acting debut in the TV series Our Heaven in 1992. Progressing from a supporting role to a lead actor, her career spans over three decades. Notably, she made history in 2007 as the first Korean to receive the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival for her role in the melodrama film Secret Sunshine.
Taking about the much-anticipated thriller, The Price of Confession centers around two women, An Yoon So and Mo Eun. An Yoon So, an art teacher, encounters Mo Eun, a mysterious woman, leading to an unexpected turn in their ordinary lives with the involvement of a murder case, according to Soompi.
While the project details remain undisclosed, reports indicate that production for the K-drama is set to commence in 2024 with a strengthened production team.
Director Lee Jeong Hyo, renowned for his work on hit K-dramas such as Doona!, Crash Landing on You, Romance Is a Bonus Book, and Life on Mars, is also the mastermind behind The Price of Confession. The drama is expected to premiere on an OTT platform, as per reports.
