Millions of people across the world face the question at some point in their lives whether they are in love with a person or just feel an attachment towards them. It is not easy to differentiate between these two concepts but spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has provided his insight on it. According to the Sadhguru, there is a fundamental difference between love and attachment. He said that what many people perceive as love is not love, but the urge to form a bond and identify oneself with the other person. The spiritual leader feels that many people mistake attachment for love but the former has nothing to do with the latter. To prove it, Sadhguru takes the example of a flower. According to the spiritual guru, attachment is like a plastic flower. which are guaranteed to last for many years. They will remain the same even if not cared for many years. With attachment, there is bound to be immense anxiety and fear which can lead the individual to the point of insanity.
On the other hand, the spiritual leader opines that love may not be as attractive as attachment. According to him, if you are in love with someone, you will enjoy their presence and absence as well. He said that in today’s time, everyone is longing for someone’s presence in their lives in the name of love. Sadhguru further said this longing for someone has to go beyond the physical desires and needs to be blended with the universe. For this purpose, Sadhguru said that meditation has been advised for the people.
On the other hand, love and hate, two contradicting emotions are related to each other. According to Sadhguru, this can be best described by the question of an individual’s emotions towards a person walking on the street. The spiritual leader asked can anyone hate any unknown person walking down the street? The answer will be no because they have not invested too much emotion in that individual. However, we can have bouts of anger towards a person we adore a lot.
