After Indira Gandhi, Kangana Ranaut to Play Mayawati? Emergency Star Says: 'Kalakar Ke Liye Kuch...'

Kangana Ranaut might not be done playing strong political leaders on the screen just yet. The actress has played J Jayalalithaa in Thalaivii and will now be seen playing the role of Indira Gandhi in Emergency. Although she’s been having a rocky road to the release, the actress has expressed her wish of playing yet another political leader. In a recent interview, she said, she would want to play the role of Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati.

During her recent appearance on Aap Ki Adalat, Kangana was asked which political leader she wants to essay next on the big screen. Her options were Mamata Banerjee or Mayawati. She replied, “Kalakar ke liye kuch mushkil nahi hai lekin mujhe lagta hai Mayawati ji jo hai (Nothing is impossible for an actor but I feel that Mayawati), as a leader, I would love to play her.”

In another part of the interview, Kangana said she believes she has gotten the blessings of the both the late political leaders to essay the role. “Mujhe lagta hai mujhe inn mahilayo ka aashirwad hai. Aur ye jo hai chati hai ki main ye karoon. Maine hamesha socha ki Rani Laxmibai ki kahani kitno ne banana ki koshish ki. Lekin wo chahti thi ki main banau. (I feel these women chose me to play them onscreen – be it Jayalalithaa, Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi or Indira Gandhi. There are many who wanted to play the role but it seems like the late political leaders wanted me to essay the role),” she said.

“Jayalalithaa ne chaha ki Kangana kare, mujhe lagta hai ki Indira Gandhi bhi yehi chahti thi ki main unka role play karoon. Mujhe kabhi ichcha nahi thi ki main Indira Gandhi banu. Aisa laga ki mujhe majboor kiya gaya ho yeh role play karne ke liye. (I never wanted to play Indira Gandhi, but I felt like something forced me to do it),” Kangana added.

Kangana not only essays the role of Indira Gandhi in Emergency but she has also helmed the film. Besides Kangana, the film stars Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman and Satish Kaushik.
