Paparazzi and our favourite Bollywood celebrities have a love-and-hate relationship. While the actors love getting papped, they have also time and again raised concerns about the violation of their privacy. In a recent interview, popular paparazzo Varinder Chawla revealed how Ranbir Kapoor once snatched one of his photographer’s phones for following him.
Varunder Chawla was speaking to a YouTube channel named Hindi Rush when he claimed that Ranbir took away his photographer’s phone and asked him to inform his boss. When Chawla contacted Ranbir, he scolded him. The actor later called back the paparazzo at 3 am and asked him to respect his privacy.
“About 10- 12 years ago. One of my photographers was following him at night for a picture. Ranbir was going somewhere, I don’t know where he was exactly going but he stopped his car and asked the guy what he was doing, why he was following him and asked him, who he works for. He snatched his phone and told him, go ask your boss to talk to me. So he called me from another number and said ‘Ranbir Kapoor has taken my phone’,” Varinder said.
“He answered my call and scolded me. He then called me back around 2.30-3.00 am and told me that he was returning home and that my boy could take his phone back. He was angry but later on, he cooled down and told us to respect his privacy,” the paparazzo added.
In November last year too, Ranbir Kapoor was seen seemingly getting angry with the paparazzi. In a video that went viral on social media, the actor walking towards his car when paparazzi asked him to pose. “RK ruko na bhai,” one of the paparazzi said. However, Ranbir responded to him saying, “Kya karu bhai? Kya karu?” He then walked towards his car and did not reply as the shutterbugs continued to greet him Diwali.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranbir Kapoor is currently working on Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. He also has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War in his pipeline. Announced in January this year, the film will also star Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt in key roles. It is slated to hit theatres on Christmas 2025.
