A day after The Cut's journalist Mariah Smith accused Priyanka Chopra of being "global scam artist" in a now-removed article, one of Britain’s most controversial TV broadcasters Piers Morgan has slammed Meghan Markle for “acting her way to the top” in a furious rant. Morgan alleged that Markle immediately "ghosted" him after meeting "more important" people.
Morgan described his "not-so-great" experience with the former Suits actress during Tuesday's Good Morning Britain show, while discussing recent reports about alleged rift between Kate Middleton and Markle.
"I knew her for about a year and a half. I got on really well with her and then bang, she met someone more important and immediately ghosted," said Morgan as he indirectly referred to Markle's marriage to Prince Harry.
"I never heard from her ever again and the old slippery slope ladder had gone up and she social climbed her way out of my orbit. So my experience wasn't great, I've got to be honest with you. And everything I've seen since does slightly smack of an actress, a Hollywood actress, seizing her chance and acting her way to the top."
Morgan also referred to Markle as "a piece of work", claiming it was he who put her "in the cab to Harry to start with."
"But when someone more important and influential came along, in the shape of Prince Harry, I was instantly dumped like a sack of spuds," he added.
He even went to an extent of claiming, "Royal courtiers are said to be already ‘fed up’ with her domineering and dictatorial attitude." He also alleged that Markle's closest aide Melissa Toubati quit just six months in the job after being left in tears.
"I think it’s far simpler than that: Meghan Markle is a self-obsessed professional actress who has landed the role of her life and is determined to milk it for all she’s worth," he added.
Morgan's remarks have garnered huge flak on social media, with several users dismissing as "nasty" the claims made by him.
One user wrote, "So @piersmorgan didn't get what HE wanted & now he's projecting his diva antics on to Meghan Markle. No proof, no evidence, just gossip to try and damage her reputation because she rebuffed him and hurt his fragile ego."

This comes just few days after Singer Ariana Grande slammed Morgan for passing offensive remarks against her and the Little Mix musical band. Morgan criticised the band members and said that they use "nudity" to sell their albums.
