Ayushmann Khurrana To Star in Thamba, Stree 2 Director Amar Kaushik's Next On Vampire | What We Know

Amar Kaushik, director of the Stree franchise, is getting ready for the next film. In an exclusive chat with IndiaToday.in, he shared that while the script for Bhediya 2 is nearly done, they will start filming Ayushmann Khurrana’s vampire movie next.

Speaking about Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya 2, the director told IndiaToday.in, “The script is not locked yet, but we have written the story, and now we need to develop the screenplay. I am not satisfied with a few parts of the story, so we are currently working on that.” Amar also revealed the title and shooting schedule for the next vampire film in the franchise, which he will produce. “The vampire film is titled Thamba. We will begin shooting for it in the next two months,” he added.

Amar Kaushik’s film, Stree 2 was released in theatres on August 15. The Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer film has broken records at the box office and become the highest-grossing film of 2024 yet. Reacting to the positive response from the audience, Amar Kaushik had told Connect Cine, “I didn’t expect this big response. I think the audience wants such films to come out. Where ever I would go, people kept asking me ‘What is the end of Stree?’ This film was made on public demand. We didn’t hurry with this film because we wanted to do justice to the story. We thought it clicked well with the public when we released the trailer but when we opened the advance ticket sale, we were like, ‘What is happening?’ This is just love of the public.”

Maddock Films’ Supernatural Universe includes Stree (2018), a horror-comedy about a town haunted by a spirit targeting men, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. Following this, Bhediya (2022) expands the universe with a werewolf storyline, starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. Both films blend humour with supernatural elements, creating a unique and interconnected cinematic world.
