Abbas-Mustan’s 2002 film Humraaz featuring Bobby Deol, Akshaye Khanna, and Amisha Patel in lead roles is considered to be a cult-classic. The romantic thriller revolving around love, betrayal, and suspense, with a plot that includes elements of crime and conspiracy was received well by critics and audiences alike.
After 22 years, Abbas Mustan might be coming out with a sequel, as per recent reports.
The sources close to the entertainment portal PinkVilla claims in a recent report that Abbas-Mustan has cracked the script of the film with Ratan Jain. The source shared, “In the last 2 years, Abbas Mustan and their team have discussed 100s of idea for Humraaz 2 but never came across anything that acts as a worthy predecessor. And finally, around a month back, the duo have managed to crack something that’s not just bigger but also better than the first part.”
The source also added, “As the basics are all locked on paper, they will be approaching actors to come onboard the project. “It’s yet undecided if it’s a straight sequel or a franchise film, but there is some movement at Ratan Jain’s office with regards to the idea of bringing back Bobby Deol and Akshaye Khanna to the film. There will be clarity on the casting soon.”

brothers Abbas Burmawalla and Mustan Burmawalla.have directed several successful films, often in the thriller and suspense genres. Some of their notable works include Baazigar, (1992), Soldier (1998), Humraaz (2002), and Race (2008), among others. They
are recognized for their signature style of filmmaking, characterized by twists and turns in the plot and a focus on suspenseful narratives.
Speaking about Humraaz, the film was inspired by Hollywood film A Perfect Murder and it grossed around Rs 29.7 crore as opposed to the collective budget of Rs 15 crore. Akshaye Khanna had won the IIFA Awards under the ‘Best Villain’ category.
