Darshan To Send Stones For Deceased Elephant Arjuna’s Burial Site: Report
Arjuna was a famed elephant who carried the Golden Howdah for eight years from 2012 to 2019.

On December 4, 2023, a 64-year-old elephant named Arjuna passed away at the Yesalur range forest in Sakleshpur taluk of Hassan district. As per reports, a fight took place while translocating the wild elephant and it ended up piercing its tusk in Arjuna’s stomach and he succumbed to his injuries. Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is known for his love for animals, shared a condolence post on his social media back then. Months after his death, it looks like the actor has raised concerns about the state of the burial site of the elephant.

Arjuna was a famed elephant who carried the Golden Howdah for eight years from 2012 to 2019. He has been participating in Mysuru’s Dasara festival for the last 22 years and was a part of the Jamboo Savari. The once majestic animal who was revered by the locals, his burial site seems to be neglected. Darshan Thoogudeepa expressed the need for the intervention of the State Government to take immediate steps to ensure that the elephant’s final resting place is taken care of properly.

On May 2, Darshan Thoogudeepa dropped a tweet on X (formerly known as Twitter). It read, “It is known that Arjuna, who was known for his magnanimity carrying Ambari many times during Dussehra festival, died in a forest operation last year. It feels like there is no direction for his grave. May he get his due respect as soon as possible. It is our request that there should be a good arrangement for this before the next rainy season starts.”

In the comment section, his fans showed him support and chimed in. A comment read, “Hope Arjuna gets his due respect and quick resolution.” One more wrote, “Government has to react to this immediately.”

Now as per the latest reports, it has been known that Darshan is helping in the restoration work of the burial site by sending stones. As per a tweet on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Raised voice about our Arjuna’s orphan(ed) grave and now D Boss is giving the necessary stones to build Arjuna’s memorial and is visiting there as soon as possible. Karnataka Govt should be ashamed.”

Darshan Thoogudeepa was last seen in the hit film Kaatera, which was released in 2023. He is currently gearing up for Devil: The Hero.
