Deepika Padukone is currently gearing up for the release of her much-awaited movie, Kalki 2898 AD. Anticipation for the film is at an all-time high, with fans eagerly awaiting its release. Kalki 2898 AD featuring cutting-edge CGI and breathtaking shots, promises to set a new benchmark in Indian cinema, matching international standards. Recently, Deepika also talked about technology in Nag Ashwin’s directorial when she praised the filmmaker for using it “intelligently”.
“For all of us to be a part of a movie where I think every kind of technology that is available in the world today is probably at our disposal,” Deepika said. Despite the extensive use of AI and other advanced technologies, Deepika emphasized the importance of preserving the soul of the performances. “With AI and things like that, I think you can lose the soul of the performances,” she noted but also went on to commend director Nag Ashwin for his adept handling of this balance saying, “The fact that we have a director who has used it so intelligently.”
Recently, Deepika attended Kalki 2898 AD pre-release event in Mumbai when she joked about sporting a baby bump in the film. Rana Daggubati, who was hosting the event, jokingly pointed to Deepika’s baby bump and asked if she decided to stay in character. To this, Deepika replied, “Yeah, I worked on it for three years so I thought why not carry the baby bump for a few more months,” added Deepika.
Besides Deepika Padukone, Kalki 2898 AD boasts a stellar cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Disha Patani. The trailer of the film was released earlier this month and it suggested that Kalki 2898 AD is a futuristic take on the Mahabharat. The story begins in Kaashi, a land rich in resources, ruled by Saswata Chatterjee’s character, who demands complete loyalty. A prophecy reveals a child will overthrow him, and this child is carried by Deepika Padukone’s character. To protect his reign, the king puts a bounty on her head. Prabhas’ character, Bhairava, a top hunter, believes it’s his destiny to capture her. Amitabh Bachchan’s Ashwatthama aims to protect her. The trailer ends with an intense glimpse of Kamal Haasan, leaving fans excited.
Directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, Kalki 2898 AD is set to hit theatres on June 27, 2024.
