Actor Esha Deol recently opened up about a disturbing incident from her past, where she confronted a man who touched her inappropriately at the premiere of her film Dus in 2005. In a candid conversation on an episode of The Male Feminist, Esha recalled the eve-teasing incident and how she didn’t let the man go unpunished.
The actor shared that the incident took place during the premiere event of Dus in Pune, where several of her co-stars, including Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Zayed Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan, were present. Despite being surrounded by bouncers, a man from the crowd managed to inappropriately touch her as she was entering the venue.
Esha described her immediate reaction, saying, “When I was entering, surrounded by many big and strong bouncers, a man from the crowd touched me inappropriately. Something happened to me in that moment, and my instant reaction was to hold the man’s hand, pull him out from the crowd, and slap him.”
Explaining why she couldn’t ignore the incident, Esha continued, “I’m not a hot-tempered person, but if someone does something beyond my tolerance level, I react. In such situations, women should definitely speak up. Just because men are physically stronger, it doesn’t mean they can take advantage of us. I believe that women are emotionally stronger, and we shouldn’t tolerate this kind of behavior.”
Esha, the daughter of Bollywood legends Dharmendra and Hema Malini, has often spoken about the importance of standing up against harassment. She emphasised that women should not stay silent when subjected to inappropriate behavior and must take action to protect themselves.
Esha Deol married businessman Bharat Takhtani in 2012 and is a mother of two daughters, Radhya and Miraya. However, in February 2024, she and Bharat announced their separation after 12 years of marriage. On the professional front, Esha made her Bollywood debut with Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe and has appeared in films like Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, LOC: Kargil, and Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa.
