The last time director Subhash Kapoor and actor Arshad Warsi came together for a film, it went on to win a National Award. The team of ‘Jolly LLB’ is back this time with yet another satire called ‘Guddu Rangeela’.
From the outside, the film appears to be a story of two brothers, who are part of a local orchestra, kidnap Baby to earn extra money. The film’s story has apparently infused the infamous Manoj and Babli honour killing case in the narrative. Along with Warsi, the film also features Amit Sadh, Aditi Rao Hydari and Ronit Roy in key roles.
Subhash Kapoor has a knack of delivering strong messages about the society’s doings through his films. Will he able to the same with this film as well? Shomini Sen of IBNLive.com is inside the theater to find out.
10:08 AM: We are watching #GudduRangeela first day, first show. Stay tuned for the tweet review of the film.
10:13 AM: We are excited to see what #SubhashKapoor and @ArshadWarsi have in store for us in #GudduRangeela after the much acclaimed #JollyLLB
10:16 AM: Along with Warsi, the film also features @TheAmitSadh and @aditiraohydari #GudduRangeela
10:31 AM: Ha-ha! Visa celebration party pe jagrata! That's a first :) #GudduRangeela
11:02 AM: The film is soaked in North Indian flavour. From language to the sets to the backdrop- everything is that region specific. #GudduRangeela
11:13 AM: The Manoj-Babli honour killing case forms the backdrop of the story. #GudduRangeela
11:24 AM: Ronit Roy and Arshad Warsi are such talented actors. And extremely underrated. #GudduRangeela
11:30 AM: Inspite of good performances, the first half of #GudduRangeela is slow. Also too many sub plots doesn't help the narrative much
11:37 AM: The haryanvi accent that the lead protagonists use is not consistent at all. #GudduRangeela
11:54 AM: Unlike #SubhashKapoor's #JollyLLB, #GudduRangeela doesn't really have sharp lines.
11:56 AM: A romantic track at this juncture in the film is absolutely unnecessary. Get on with the story, already! #GudduRangeela
12:25 AM: The barbarism that exists in many villages in North India in the name of Khap is startling. #GudduRangeela
12:31 AM: Ayyo! From a satire to a loud action film from the 8Os in a span of two hours! #GudduRangeela why you change theme, man?
12:36 AM: It starts of as a relevant film but loses its way somewhere in the middle and ends up becoming 80s action film. #GudduRangeela
12:38 AM: Ronit Roy's performance is the only high point of an otherwise chaotic film. #GudduRangeela
12:39 AM: Too many sub plots make the film direction less. #GudduRangeela
12:40 AM: There are a few funny scenes but those aren't enough. #GudduRangeela
12:41 AM: Thanks for being with us throughout the tweet review of #GudduRangeela. Stay tuned for more movie updates.
