Kamal Haasan is making a strong comeback to the big screen, signing multiple projects after an extended hiatus from cinema. The success of his action thriller Vikram in 2022 reaffirmed his return. The veteran actor is now set to collaborate with leading filmmakers and technicians in the industry for his upcoming ventures.
The actor had earlier unveiled his upcoming onscreen project alongside acclaimed filmmaker H Vinoth in mid-2023. The film, anticipated to be Kamal Haasan’s 233rd endeavour and tentatively titled KH 233, is now reportedly shelved, as per the recent updates.
Planned to start filming in early 2024, the eagerly awaited political thriller KH 233 has surprisingly remained low-key since its initial announcement. Kamal Haasan commenced preparations for the film in late 2023. But speculations abound that the project could be shelved, though there is no official confirmation at this time. Sources suggest potential creative disagreements between the actor and director H Vinoth might be the cause for this development.
Reportedly, the filmmaker decided to put the project on hold due to reported dissatisfaction from Kamal Haasan, who is both the lead actor and producer, regarding the script’s direction. But specific details remain undisclosed, awaiting an official statement from the production banner Raaj Kamal Films International.
The actor, gearing up for an active phase in his career, plans to commence shooting for Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life by the end of January 2024. The highly anticipated project, boasting a stellar cast, is slated to hit screens in the first quarter of 2025. After this, he will collaborate with the action choreographer duo Anbarivu for their directorial debut, tentatively titled KH 237. Alongside, a reunion with Lokesh Kanagaraj is awaiting, involving the Vikram sequel and other films within the LCU.
Kamal Hassan has featured in around 220 films across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi cinema. He is best known for films including Hey Ram, Thevar Magan, Dasavatharam, and Vishwaroopam. Soon, he is going to star in several films including Vikram 2, Indian 2 and Kalki 2898 AD, to name a few.
