IFFI 2017: Priyanka Chopra's Mom Speaks on the Actor Receiving Constant Flak on Social Media

Priyanka Chopra has often faced backlash on social media for various reasons. The actress once came under fire for wearing a knee-length dress while her meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Berlin. However, PeeCee later gave a fitting reply to haters by flashing some more leg on her Instagram with mother Madhu Chopra, who says she doesn’t care about trolls.

In an interview with News18.com, Madhu, who is currently in Goa for the screening of her Marathi production Ventilator at the ongoing International Film Festival of India, says she doesn’t understand why people are always interested in blowing things out of proportion.

“Who are these trolls? They are anonymous, sad, unfortunate people who are hiding behind computers and making comments because they think they are getting heard. I believe media also should be more responsible. There are hundred good things they will not mention, but a couple of bad thing they’ll just blow it up. Why should we give weight to trolls? I don’t get bothered at all,” said Chopra.

Madhu, also one of the founders of Priyanka’s production house Purple Pebble Pictures, insists Priyanka was “so appropriately dressed” during her meeting with the PM. “The entire PM protocol office did not say anything. They didn’t have any issues with her dress. These (trolls) are stupid people. They blew it out of proportion. I didn’t care. Priyanka didn’t care. In fact, Priyanka gave a ‘good jawaab’ after that,” adds Chopra. She further says people should respect Priyanka for the kind of work she has been doing all around the world.

“She is a very dignified girl. People are just looking for something to bring her down. Why? She’s making our country proud. You should at least give her that kind of credit. Sometimes I feel bad that we don’t credit to people who really deserve. That’s the only thing that I feel bad about trolling. You’re not seeing what she (Priyanka) is doing. She’s just an ordinary girl from an ordinary family.”

Chopra says the best about Priyanka is that she is immensely hardworking and never compromises on anything. "It's been a very fruitful career that she has had. She never gets impulsive and always makes a thought-out decision. I think if anybody deserves it, it's her."
