Thalapathy Vijay is currently busy with his upcoming release, The Greatest Of All Time aka GOAT, directed by Venkat Prabhu. Amid all this, reports of his final film have been doing the rounds. The movie, tentatively titled Thalapathy 69, is set to be directed by H Vinoth. Music composer Anirudh Ravichander is also reportedly onboard. It is also reported that KVN Productions will be backing the project. Thalapathy 69 is expected to be a political drama. Now, another latest update regarding the film is making news. Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu will reportedly play the female lead in the film. Thalapathy Vijay and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have acted together in three films before this. They featured in AR Murugadoss’ Kaththi, which released in 2014. The duo came together on screen yet again for the film Theri, and then in 2017 for Mersal. Both of these films were helmed by Atlee.
The cast of GOAT also includes Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Ajmal Ameer, Meenakshi Chaudhary and Jayaram in the prominent roles. Thalapathy Vijay is set to feature in a dual role in this film. The movie’s shooting is almost completed. The team was reportedly shooting in the US for the climax. Last month, the film’s music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja revealed that Thalapathy Vijay has sung two songs in this film. This is a first in the superstar’s career.
Thalapathy Vijay sang the Whistle Podu, which was released a month ago. It was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The lyrics of the song were by Madhan Karky. It is not the first time that Thalapathy Vijay has sung a song in a film. He has sung several hit songs in his films like Bombay City in Rasigan (1994), Thotta Petta in Vishnu (1995), and O Baby in Kadhalukku Mariyadhai (1997); but singing two songs in one film is a first for the actor. Yuvan Shankar Raja shared this during an event. “For the first time, Thalapathy has sung two songs in this film.”
