Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has fans buzzing with excitement. Beyond the grand scale, the film has caught everyone’s attention for its impeccable star cast, with Ranbir Kapoor portraying the character of Ram. The actor will be joined by Sai Pallavi who is reported to essay Sita on the big screen. It was earlier reported that Kunal Kapoor has also been roped in to play a pivotal role in the upcoming magnum opus. Now, as per the latest reports, he will be playing Indra Dev in the film.
Pinkvilla reported recently that Kunal Kapoor will be playing Indra Dev in the film. They had previously reported that the actor had begun preparing for the film. A source while speaking to the portal confirmed that Kunal has been busy doing rehearsals and costume trials for Ramayana. However, the makers have kept details about Kunal’s character under wraps and are yet to confirm if he’s playing Indra Dev.
A source also told the publication, “A film as big and as pure as Ramayana will get the announcement it deserves. The makers are working on a visually rich asset to present their work of passion to the audience.” The source added that the film’s announcement will either be made around Dussehra in October or Diwali in November.
Ramayana is expected to be released in two parts. A source close to the development previously told the entertainment portal, “Given the scale and magnitude of the film, the makers have opted for a two-part approach to tell the story. While most in the business await the results of part one before taking the second one on floors, Ramayana will be shot simultaneously.”
The source also reflected on the shooting schedule of Ramayana and added a 350-day shoot schedule has been chalked out for the project. The schedule includes filming of the scenes featuring the extended star cast and even their solo sequences. The makers are expected to wrap up the schedule by December 2025.
Apart from Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, KGF fame Yash is also expected to play Ravana while Lara Dutta will be seen portraying Surpanakha. Trade analyst Sumit Kadel, earlier in May, reported that Ramayana will be released in 2027. Recently, a few pictures of Ranbir, dressed in the character of Lord Ram emerged online, capturing the internet’s attention.
