With just five days remaining for the highly anticipated release of Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s upcoming directorial, Laal Salaam, the production team has unveiled yet another striking poster to build excitement among fans. Apart from an extended cameo by Rajinikanth as Moideen Bhai, the movie features Vishnu Vishal and Vikrant in lead roles. In the latest poster, Rajinikanth is depicted at the centre, wearing a skull cap, flanked by Vishnu Vishal and Vikrant. Vikrant is shown holding a cricket ball in his hand. Luca Productions, the film’s production company, added a caption, “Gear up for the ultimate showdown! LAL SALAAM arrives in 5 days with moments that will leave you on the edge. Witness the clash on-screen!” The film is scheduled for release on February 9.

Laal Salaam also boasts an ensemble cast including Vignesh, Livingstone, Senthil, Jeevita, KS Ravikumar, Thambi Ramaiah, Nirosha, Vivek Prasanna, Thangadurai and Aditya Menon in pivotal roles. Former cricketer Kapil Dev makes a special appearance in the film, aligning with its cricket-centric theme.
However, just ahead of its release, Laal Salaam is encountering release issues in Kuwait, where the movie has reportedly been banned. Kuwait has a history of banning films with perceived anti-Muslim content and Laal Salaam is said to touch upon certain religious issues. The production team has yet to issue an official statement regarding the ban in Kuwait.
Adding to the pre-release controversies, Laal Salaam stirred a debate over the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in music composition. Renowned composer AR Rahman employed AI technology to recreate the voices of late playback singers Bamba Bakya and Shamul Hameed for a song in the film. Addressing the backlash, AR Rahman clarified that the process had been undertaken with prior permission from the late singers’ families, who were duly compensated. He emphasised that technology, when used responsibly, is not a threat or nuisance.
As the countdown to its release continues, Laal Salaam remains in the spotlight, creating anticipation and curiosity among fans and cinephiles alike.
