We are celebrating this moment.”
Kiran Rao, who helmed the project, also expressed her gratitude for the film’s selection as India’s Oscar entry, recognising the hard work that went into creating it. She said, “I am very happy. I was not expecting an Oscar entry as many good films have been made this year. Now we will have a chance to show this film to a much larger audience. I would like to thank the audience for giving so much love to this film.” Rao emphasised the film’s relevance in addressing women’s aspirations and struggles, adding that it is rewarding to see new talents and faces appreciated for their contributions.
While the road to the Oscars is filled with challenges, Rao remains optimistic. “The journey to Oscars is not going to be easy, but we will give it all,” she assured. Kiran also shared Aamir Khan’s reaction to the nomination, revealing that he congratulated the entire team, showcasing his support for the project.
Produced under the banners of Aamir Khan Productions, Kindling Pictures, and Jio Studios, Laapataa Ladies features a talented cast, including Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Ravi Kishan, and Chhaya Kadam, all of whom have contributed to the film’s poignant storytelling.
