One of the most-awaited shows is back. The third season of Panchayat is now streaming on Prime Video. On Monday night, a special screening of the show was held in Mumbai which was attended by the cast and several other actors from the industry. Among others, Neena Gupta, who plays the role of Manju Devi in the show, also attended the screening.
Neena Gupta was snapped by the paparazzi as she arrived for Panchayat 3 screening. In a video that surfaced on social media, the 64-year-old actress was seen posing for the shutterbugs in a short white co-ord set. She accessorised her outfit with gold necklaces and a bold red cross-body bag. Neena further completed her look with yellow sneakers and dark sunglasses.
Neena Gupta’s bold appearance left netizens stunned, with many age-shaming her. Soon after a video of Neena Gupta went viral on social media, several people reacted to it and trolled the actress. While one of the users called her “Urfi ki nani”, another comment read, “You should dress your age.”
However, several fans also jumped into Neena Gupta’s defence arguing one is free to do what he/she wants. “I love women taking care of themselves and not caring about the society…. She is not wearing anything revealing….. Its just shorts and shirt with that confidence and smile (sic),” one of the comments read.
Besides Neena Gupta, Panchayat 3 also stars Jitendra Kumar, Raghubir Yadav, Chandan Roy and Faisal Malik in key roles. Earlier this month, the trailer of Panchayat 3 was released which revealed a new secretary is coming to the district this season. However, due to some circumstances old secretary Jitendra Kumar was called back. In the new season, everyone is trying to uplift their image as the Panchayat elections are on head. It will be interesting to see how they will manage and how Jitendra will help them.
Recently, Jitendra Kumar also opened up about becoming a household name with Panchayat when he told the news agency IANS, “I have always lived a simple village life. There is always chaos during the shoot of any project. I find the village life very peaceful. Whenever I return from the shoot, I miss the simplicity and feel nostalgic. I enjoy Phulera (the fictional village in ‘Panchayat’) a lot for this.”
“A lot of opportunities come to me and I get a chance to be part of good films. Of course, becoming a household name is exciting but I never aimed for it and finally, it’s happening which is good for my work,” the actor added.
