We come across numerous names from the film industry, who decide to leave the glam world all of a sudden for personal reasons. The list includes former Bollywood actress Suman Ranganathan, known for her appearances in films like Baghban and Aa Ab Laut Chalen. Do you know where she is now? She was a well-known actress in the 90s, but took a break from acting for a long time, the reason of which still remains unknown. The actress entered Bollywood with the film Fareb, which was released in 1996. A Vikram Bhatt-directorial, it starred Suman Ranganathan, Faraaz Khan and Milind Gunaji as the leads. Going by the reports, it proved to be a big hit at the box-office. In the following years, she was seen in several projects which starred some of the biggest names in the industry. It includes films like Hum Ho Gaye Aapke, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam, and Baghban. In 2006, she married Bunty Walia, a producer and an entrepreneur; within a few months after their marriage, reports of tension between the two started surfacing in the media. It was reported that the couple had an argument during Ekta Kapoor’s party. A week after the reports of their quarrel, Bunty Walia claimed to the media that she had sent a notice demanding Rs 2 lakh as alimony, a Pali Hill flat and a car. By May 2007, the two decided to split. Suman Ranganathan then married Sajan Chinnappa in 2019.
She was last seen in the Kannada film Thothapuri: Chapter 2, which was released last year. It is directed by Vijaya Prasad, who is also credited as its writer. The film’s cast includes Jaggesh, Dhananjay, Aditi Prabhudeva and Suman Ranganathan. It is produced by K A Suresh, while the music was handled by Arun Andrews and Hemanth Subrahmanya. The film is a sequel to the 2022 film, Thothapuri 1.
Suman Ranganathan’s last Bollywood film was Gumnaam – The Mystery, released in 2008. Directed by Neeraj Pathak the film starred Mahima Chaudhry, Dino Morea, Suman Ranganathan and Irrfan Khan. Shubir Mukherjee is the producer while Nadeem-Shravan did the music.
