TRIPUNITHURA: When huge quantity of camphor was burnt during the Deeparadana of Sree Poornathrayeesha Temple as part of the commemoration of the reinstallation of the idol after the fire mishap in 1920, it virtually evoked a feeling of the fire mishap. Coincidently, this year the Thulam 9 festival came on Diwali day which added a serene atmosphere. The festival began with the morning Siveli (divine procession) accompanied by five caparisoned tuskers and melodious pancharimelam headed by Padmasri Peruvanam Kuttan Marar. Soon after the Siveli, a special meeting was held to release the CD ‘Sre Poornathrayeesha Suprabhatham’ penned by Vaikom Ramachandran and scored by T S Radhakrishnan. Peruvanam Kuttan Marar presented the first copy to Brahmasree P S Raman. Singer Madhu Balakrishnan was present on the occasion. In the afternoon, the camphor meant for the Deeparadana was brought from Canara Bank as procession accompanied by Panchavadhyam. The Deeparadhana by the huge flames of camphor added beauty especially as the occasion was also the festival of lights.
