Actress Sanjeeda Shaikh has got candid about her divorce with Aamir Ali and how she was subjected to relentless hate on social media after their split. The actress said that it was a conscious decision to not speak about her separation earlier, but she is “so proud” of her decision.
Speaking to Zoom, Sanjeeda said, “I won’t be saying like ‘oh, it’s okay. People speak’. It’s not okay, and our side of the story only I know, right? And I am somebody who is—again, I would give it to my family, they have given me the liberty to talk to them about what I have felt so I do not have to go out and talk about it. And I take immense pride in doing that. I think that somewhere has kept my dignity alive and my sanity safe. I am not somebody who is pro women and I am not somebody who is bashing male.”
The actress continued, “So, I think, people talk about half-baked stories for two days and then they forget about it. Let them talk. I am correct things in life and I am so proud of the decision that I have made. My child is very proud, my people are very proud. This is my blessing.”
Sanjeeda recalled how people said some nasty things about her after reports of her divorce with Aamir made headlines. She said, “Now people have started taking me seriously as an actor. So when I read about it (online), they read about my performances and it gives me immense pleasure reading the comments. But there was a phase when they used to write sh*tty stuff about me. Whatever you’re talking about my personal life — she is good or bad; she has done this or that — no problem. That doesn’t stop my journey of improving as an actor or doing good work.”
Sanjeeda Shaikh and her ex-husband, Aamir Ali, fell in love on the sets of their show, ‘Kya Dill Mein Hai’, back in 2007. After dating for a few years, Aamir and Sanjeeda got married in 2012. Later, in 2019, they welcomed their daughter, Arya, via surrogacy. A year later, things turned sour between the two and they parted ways after eight years of marriage. They were granted divorce in 2021.
